                                           The Augusta County Democratic Committee believes that our nation has been great since its creation and will remain great weathering these troubled times.We believe that if we hold firm together we can build a more equal society, a more just economy, and a more perfect union.

WE BELIEVE IN: AUGUSTA COUNTY

• Recognizing Rural and small-town America as a fundamental part of the character of our country.

• Protecting and fostering our agricultural industry while attracting new businesses and good-paying jobs.

• Creating more county park and recreational facilities.

• Making affordable high-speed broad-band internet service available to the entire county.

• Providing a quality public school education pre-K through 12 for every child in a safe learning environment.

• Raising teacher pay to provide a competitive salary.

• Stopping the Atlantic Coast and Mountain Valley Pipelines and the improper use of eminent domain.

WE BELIEVE IN: YOUR RIGHTS

• Protecting the civil liberties and guaranteeing the civil rights of ALL Americans regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, language, religion, beliefs, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

• Protecting the voting rights of ALL Americans.

• Protecting women’s reproductive rights.

• Protecting the right of ALL Americans to be safe from gun violence.

• Protecting the rights of responsible gun owners while supporting common sense laws.

  • Universal background checks on ALL gun purchases.

  • Restrictions on military style rifles and high capacity magazines.

  • Banning bump-stocks.

• Facing the reality of past and present racial injustices.

• The certainty that LGBTQIA+ rights are human rights.

• Equal treatment under the law for ALL Americans.

WE BELIEVE IN: A CLEAN ENVIRONMENT

• Responsible stewardship and protection of our environment.

• The scientific reality of catastrophic climate change and treating it as a national security issue.

• Transitioning to renewable energy ASAP.

• Banning fracking and protecting our public lands and coastlines from drilling.

WE BELIEVE IN: YOU

• Universal healthcare for ALL.

• Two years free post high school education at a public college or vocational school.

• Raising the minimum wage to a “living wage”.

• Tax reform that benefits us all with the wealthy and corporations paying their fair share.

• Protecting Social Security.

• An economy that works for everyone not just the wealthy and privileged.

WE BELIEVE IN: AMERICA

• A strong military to back up a diplomacy first international policy.

• Standing with our allies and confronting our adversaries.

• Honoring our active military members, veterans, and first responders.

• Campaign finance reform that ends the oversized influence on elections wielded by the wealthy and corporations.

• Simplifying business regulations while protecting consumers.

• Honoring our diversity as a multi-cultural nation.

• Immigration reform that is fair and compassionate.
